Official fees for the learner's permit, theory test and practical exam are charged by the Strassenverkehrsamt des Kantons Zürich and paid directly to the canton. The first aid course and the traffic awareness course (VKU) are not included.

Example: category B licence with 20 lessons

5 units at CHF 59 (CHF 295) plus 15 single lessons at CHF 80 (CHF 1,200) plus CHF 150 administration and insurance plus CHF 220 exam package equals CHF 1,865 paid to DriveX. How many lessons you really need depends on you; after the trial lesson we give you an honest estimate. A driving lesson of about 50 minutes costs CHF 80 at DriveX in Zürich, a double lesson CHF 160; new learners pay CHF 59 for each of their first 5 units.

What does a driving lesson cost at DriveX?
A single lesson costs CHF 80 (about 50 minutes including a short debrief, roughly 45 minutes of driving). A 60-minute lesson costs CHF 105, a double lesson CHF 160. New learners with a valid learner's permit start with their first 5 units at CHF 59 each.
How does the CHF 59 offer work?
The first 5 units, that is one trial lesson plus two double lessons, cost CHF 59 each instead of CHF 80. It applies to new learners with a learner's permit who take at least 10 units in total. For licence conversion and taxi training the trial lesson costs CHF 59 with no minimum. Refresher lessons are excluded.
Which one-off fees are there?
Per person and category: CHF 150 for administration and insurance, due from the second lesson, and CHF 220 for the exam package (car, instructor and a 60-minute warm-up before the practical exam or control drive).
What does the category B licence cost in total?
Example with 20 lessons: 5 units at CHF 59 (CHF 295), 15 single lessons at CHF 80 (CHF 1,200), plus CHF 150 administration and CHF 220 exam package. That is CHF 1,865 paid to DriveX. Not included: official fees for the learner's permit, theory test and practical exam, paid directly to the canton, plus the first aid course and the traffic awareness course (VKU).
Are there hidden costs?
No. All DriveX prices are listed here and in the terms and conditions. Official fees of the Strassenverkehrsamt go directly to the canton, not to us.
What if I have to cancel?
Cancel at least 24 hours before the lesson and nothing is charged. Later cancellations and no-shows cost 50 % of the lesson price. With a medical certificate within 4 days there is no charge.
How do I pay?
In cash or by invoice with a Swiss QR code, payable within 20 days.
